Topics included understanding retention schedules, the difference between Copy of Record, duplicates, and original record, what format agnostic means, converting records from paper to electronic, dealing with born digital records, and electronic recordkeeping systems as well as IARA publications, policies, and procedures for electronic records.

Responsible Records Destruction for State of Indiana Agencies
April 23, 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Eastern TimeState Employees: concerned about when and how to destroy public records that have reached the end of their required retention period? Wondering what happens to the originals once you've converted records to another format? What about those boxes out at the State Records Center? The Indiana Archives and Records Administration is here to help with these questions and more!
Featuring speakers from Records and Information Management, Electronic Records, and the State Records Center, this live (now recorded) webinar discussed the rules, methods, and options for legally and responsibly disposing of state agency records in both physical and electronic formats, including changes to the process of requesting confidential shredding, with plenty of time reserved for answers to additional questions.
