Indiana Share

Indiana State law (IC 4-23-7.1-5) requires the State Library to “encourage and facilitate the interlibrary exchange of services, information, and materials.” The Indiana SHARE (IN-SHARE) program is a subsidized program of the Indiana State Library which allows libraries which normally would not be able to take advantage of resource sharing with other libraries to request materials through mediated interlibrary loans.

State Library staff use the ILLiad software to submit interlibrary loan requests submit OCLC Interlibrary loan requests on the behalf of the participating IN-SHARE libraries. Lending libraries that agree to provide these materials then ship the items directly to the requesting libraries via InfoExpress or using library rate, at the requesting library's expense. The requesting library is responsible for the safe and timely return of all borrowed materials, as well for any loss or damage.
