GOVERNOR'S COUNCIL AWARDS PROGRAM- NOMINATIONS DUE FRIDAY, AUGUST 21

The Governor's Council for People with Disabilities invites you to submit nominations for the 2009 Community Spirit Awards. The deadline for nominations is Friday, August 21. Awards have been established in two categories with a total of four awards:

  • Distinguished Leadership Awards: recognizes one person with a disability and one parent of a child with a disability for outstanding and sustained advocacy efforts, which have advanced the independence, productivity and inclusion of people with disabilities in society.
  • Disability Awareness Campaign Awards: recognizes one individual and one group/organization who have been most active organizing an exemplary Disability Awareness campaign, which has changed attitudes and enhanced the perception of the value and contributions of people with disabilities.

Winners will be offered a full scholarship to attend the Council's annual conference and will be recognized during the conference Annual Awards Luncheon.
