PURSUANT TO HB 1001 (ss) (2009), SEC. 495, “The Department of State Revenue shall conduct a study of the feasibility of changing the design and method for verifying, tracking, and tracking cigarette stamps (as defined in IC 6-7-1-9), including issues related to the use of electronic cigarette stamp readers, to incorporate the latest technical advances used by other states to reduce counterfeiting and misuse of cigarette stamps.”
Notice is hereby given that Indiana Department of Revenue has set the above matter for an initial hearing on Oct. 6, 2009 at 9 a.m. at:

Public participation is requested. It is strongly advised that you notify the Department of your intent to attend. The Department will also accept written comment in addition to, or in absence of, a party’s ability to attend the hearing.
Parties are also advised that any and all written materials must be submitted no later than Sept. 29, 2009. A procedural agenda will be issued by the Department and posted at www.in.gov/dor no later than Sept.18, 2009.
