“WEAR IT INDIANA” is a public outreach campaign designed to enlighten and encourage the use of personal flotation devices (life jackets) while boaters and swimmers are enjoying Indiana waterways.
Indiana DNR’s Law Enforcement Division is partnering with the National Safe Boating Council, United States Coast Guard and private industry to reach a mass audience. As a part of the campaign, Indiana Conservation Officers will visit popular boat ramps and engage boaters as they launch and recover watercraft.
This summer the “WEAR IT INDIANA” team will be appearing at a boat ramp or marina in your area. The team will be demonstrating the advantages of wearing a life jacket at all times while you’re on the water.
The team will be asking boaters to sign a pledge card stating that you understand the importance of wearing a life jacket.
By educating the public, “WEAR IT INDIANA’s” goal is to reduce or eliminate the loss of life from drowning in the Hoosier state.
